The NHS vaccination programme continues to make strong progress.
Invitations to people ages 36 and over have begun, and more will follow as supplies allow. We would advise this cohort to wait to be contacted.
Please remember:
- Unless you have been invited before, please don’t contact the NHS including your GP to seek a vaccine, we will contact you when it is the right time.
- Please attend your booked appointments at exactly the time you’re asked to, and make sure you come back for your second dose when you are invited.
- And whether you have had your vaccine or not, please continue to follow all the guidance in place to control the virus and save lives.
You can find out how to get your vaccine at nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by phoning 119. Alternatively, you can wait to be contacted by your GP-led local vaccination service. Please be patient you will be called.
Second doses of the Covid-19 vaccines
For many of those who were vaccinated at the start of the programme, the time will come over the next few weeks to return for their second dose.
The NHS has been planning meticulously to ensure that people can get that second dose when it is the right time for them to do so.
Second doses of the Covid-19 vaccines are routinely offered around 11-12 weeks from the first dose being given. A Local GP-led vaccination site will contact individuals by text or by telephone to arrange an appointment to receive a second dose. In exceptional cases some people will be invited earlier. Please be patient you will be contacted.
People who booked their appointments through the national booking service (online at NHS UK: Covid Vaccine or by ringing 119) will have booked both their first and second appointments at the same time.
